Surroundings
Komarna is a great base for day trips. Pelješac Bridge is five minutes' drive away, and Ston, the Neretva Delta and Dubrovnik are all easy to reach in a day.
Pelješac Bridge and the Pelješac Peninsula
Opened in 2022, the bridge links the mainland with Pelješac just next to Komarna. Pelješac is known for its vineyards and wineries, especially the red wines Dingač and Postup made from the Plavac Mali grape. Along the coast you will find quiet beaches and small towns such as Orebić. Viganj, not far from Orebić, is one of the best-known windsurfing and kitesurfing spots in Croatia.
Ston and Mali Ston
The Walls of Ston, built from the 14th century onwards, are one of the longest preserved defensive systems in Europe and can be walked. In Mali Ston, don't miss the oysters and mussels from Mali Ston Bay.
Neretva Delta
A fertile valley of canals, reed beds and tangerine orchards. A ride through the canals in a traditional boat is an unforgettable experience, and in autumn you can buy tangerines directly from the growers.
Narona in Vid
In the village of Vid near Metković lie the remains of the Roman town of Narona. The archaeological museum was built on the site where a temple dedicated to Emperor Augustus was discovered, with the statues displayed where they were found.
Dubrovnik
A UNESCO World Heritage city with its famous city walls, Stradun and old town. Perfect for a full-day trip.
Korčula
The island is reached by ferry from Orebić. Korčula Town, with its old town set on a small peninsula, is one of the most beautiful medieval towns on the Adriatic.
Mljet National Park
A ferry from Prapratno near Ston takes you to Mljet, a green island with the Great and Small Lakes and the islet of St Mary with its Benedictine monastery.
Mostar
A city in Bosnia and Herzegovina famous for its Old Bridge and old town. Please bring your ID card or passport, as the trip involves crossing a border.
